Axanto Portal 4.5 is here. Incident, service request, change, problem and activities have reworked views for end users and analysts, request offering owners configure Create and Modify Entity activities themselves, and contracts get an hours traffic light.

What’s new

Reworked work item views

Incident, service request, change, problem and activities now follow one consistent structure – in the self-service view as well as the analyst view.

  • End users can withdraw their own open incidents and answer questions from the service desk.
  • Reviewers and activity owners can see and work on their activities without an analyst role.
  • Activities show the attachments of their work item (read-only).

Entity activities in the Designer

Request offering owners configure Create Entity and Modify Entity activities themselves in the Designer, choosing classes and fields from lists. If saving such an activity fails, it now ends as Failed with the reason instead of Completed.

Contracts

Contracts track open quotes, carry the project number, billing type and hourly rate, and show an hours traffic light.

More improvements

  • Send mail: one composer for all templates, in the detail-page layout; the language narrows the templates.
  • Patch Manager: The machine view shows stored software updates with their sync time and can be refreshed.
  • Attachment preview: PDFs open in the preview instead of being downloaded.
  • Translation: The target language is preselected, failures are reported, and the button only appears when a translation service is configured.
  • On a detail page where nothing can be edited, the Save button is hidden.
  • Platform: Apache Solr 9.11.0 with the current Amazon Corretto 21 Java runtime, plus updated third-party components.

What else we fixed

4.5 contains 35 fixes. End users in Problem Management can no longer edit analyst fields or see all problems. Lists filtered by “my groups” or “my roles” are no longer empty for users without groups or roles, and sorting by an extension data column returns the right order. A request offering form with two user pickers no longer saves both answers into one entry, and duplicating a request offering with activities works again. The SCCM machine sync in Patch Manager saves machines without a tenant again after an upgrade, and a chart set to “hide when empty” no longer blocks the whole dashboard.

Updating

From 4.4 the update is a regular setup run; the database is updated automatically. Solr 9.11.0 and the new Java runtime come with the setup and need no reindex. For the hours traffic light to appear on existing contracts, the contracts need to be reindexed once – the upgrade runbook in the product help describes how. For the update from 3.72 the advice stands: please plan it together with your Axanto contact and read the upgrade runbook in the product help first.
